  Issued to "Kaiserliche Schutztruppen" in German Southwest & German East Africa. Differs from standard Gew 98 in having a rear sight commencing at 200 rather than 400m & also a turned-down bolt handle. Receiver marked "Crown Spandau 1900" with WW2 UDF confiscation stamp to receiver ring. Rifle is complete with cleaning rod & original leather sling. Left side of stock has been drilled below the receiver to accept  a period  target peep sight. Rest of rifle is in good original condition with a high % original finish.

Factory take-down canvas covered case with Westley label to interior. Finish has faded to silver-grey, shiny Metford rifling. Replacement solid red rubber pad to butt, rest all good original condition. Original pad included in case.

  Hammer gun with back-action locks and Jones rotary underlever action. Steel 26" barrels marked "F.Beesley from Purdeys 2 St.James Street London". Manufactured 1902, gun weight=12,9lbs. Barrel weight =7,4lbs. Extensive engraving to action, locks & hammers. Cheekpiece to well-figured stock. Manufacturer's leather case marked "F.Beesley Gun & Rifle Manufacturer". Rifle is in particularly good original condition & shows few signs of use. Excellent bores, tight action, much original colour to locks & receiver, approx 90% original bluing to barrels. There is a small chip to cheekpiece of well-figured stock & solid rubber recoil pad is due for replacement. The gun has been proofed for black powder loads but should have no difficulty passing nitroproof given condition of the gun, steel barrels & barrel wall thickness.

Two piece browning B25 type fore-end to straight-grip stock. Side-plated action with extensive colour case-hardening to engraved action. Cocking indicators & Kersten crossbolts to action. A superior make of gun with good bores, tight action and good plus overall condition. Appears to be Model 202E.

Ebony fore-end tip, finely executed wrap-around chequering to wrist & fore-end, cheekpiece & red Silvers pad to well-figured walnut stock. All excellent condition.

Approx 80% original bluing, & approx 60% original colour case-hardening to action. .303/375 Axite caliber was fore-runner to .318 WR cartridge & has a .330 bore. Cases can be formed from 7X65R brass. Ca. 1905. Good Metford rifled bores. Stock has been professionally "refreshed". Good plus condition overall.
